BlueKey DriverID app - setup and configuration

BlueKey Driver ID app setup

BlueKey DriverID setup and configuration

In this article, we’ll show you how to use the BlueKey Driver ID app on your phone to deactivate the immobilizer and start your vehicle.

This setup assumes you have a GPS tracker with a digital output connected to a relay that controls the immobilizer.

Traditionally, Driver ID systems required an iButton or RFID tag, which meant installing additional hardware and wiring a reader into the vehicle.

The BlueKey Driver ID app can be deployed remotely with no additional hardware or installation required — saving both time and money.
(Requires digital output & relay connected to the tracker)

The BlueKey DriverID app works by broadcasting an authorized ID to the tracker using bluetooth

In this example, we’ll be using a Teltonika tracker with the BlueKey app.

To get started, download the BlueKey DriverID app
  1. Android
  2. iOS (coming soon)

Open the BlueKey app and tap the Share button to copy the identifier.
This identifier will be used in the configurator for authorization, and on the platform for driver identification and tracking.

Connect the Teltonika Configurator to the tracker, and goto to the Beacon List page.

Change Beacon Detection to Configured.

Add the Beacon ID, making sure the Major and Minor values are separated with a colon.

Next, go to the Features page.

In the Immobilizer section, set the trigger source to Beacon and the output to DOUT1.

Setting the Ignition Off Timeout to 5 seconds means the vehicle cannot be started again after 5 seconds unless the app is used.

Now send the configuration to the device.

Next we will test it is working, go to the Status page.

Tap the large circle button in the BlueKey app to start broadcasting the Driver ID.

You should now see a Beacon tab appear in the configurator.

This confirms the tracker is detecting the authorized Driver ID being broadcast from the phone.

To confirm the output is working, let’s test it.

Go to the I/O tab and observe the Ignition and Digital Output 1 status values.

Using an installed tracker or a test bench, turn the ignition on, and you should see both the Ignition and Digital Output 1 Status change to 1

Now tap the Broadcast button in the BlueKey DriverID app.

You should see the Beacons Tab appear, and the Digital Output 1 Status change to 0, and the immobilizer will deactivate, and the vehicle can now be started.

After setting up and testing this configuration, you can use GPRS commands to remotely deploy this configuration to vehciles that have an immobilizer relay installed.
