This article explains the 3 ways to activate your Teltonika device.
1. Using the Add Asset Wizard within the web-app
This is the easiest but least reliable way to configure your devices (due to factors outside of our control). Click here for more info on Add Asset Wizard.
2. Configuring your device manually using the Teltonika Configurator (Windows software)
Find a selection of configuration files at the bottom of this article.
N.B. You must input your own APN settings for your GSM/SIM provider into our standard configuration file.
3. Over The Air (OTA) via SMS & GPRS
• To connect the device to our server OTA, firstly an SMS command needs to be sent. Then the rest of the configuration commands can be sent via GPRS from within our app. See here for more info on sending SMS & GPRS commands
• Ensure you start the initial SMS command with two spaces if the device has no username and password. This is the factory default setup .
• Ensure that you change the APN details in the command.
- Here is an example using APN settings with no APN username & password:
APN name: internet
APN username: blank
APN password: blank
Example commands:
setparam 1242:internet
setparam 1245:data.gpsiot.net
setparam 1246:12070
setparam 1247:0
- Here is an example using APN settings with an APN username & password:
APN name: safaricom
APN username: saf
APN password: data
Example commands:
setparam 1242:safaricom
setparam 1243:saf
separam 1244:data
setparam 1245:data.gpsiot.net
setparam 1246:12070
setparam 1247:0
• Once the above commands has been sent via SMS, and the device is connected to our platform, then GPRS commands can be sent. Here is a list of GPRS commands that can be sent and what they do, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Yhx9UQx31z-HAM8MPUU9rgIKONc9meXDWeuxp9RhC4I/edit?usp=sharing
N.B.
•The ignition should be kept on whilst sending GPRS commands for them to take effect quickly.
• Sending ONE SMS at a time applies for these series of hardware devices.
