Cut-off/Restore Engine (immobilise/mobilise)

Cut-off/Restore Engine (immobilise/mobilise)

You can immobilise (cut-off) or mobilise (restore) the engine of a tracker using either GPRS commands or SMS commands, depending on your device and setup.

1. GPRS Command Setup

This method works with trackers that support GPRS (platform) commands:

  1. Log in to your WhiteLabel Tracking portal.

  2. Navigate to: ADMIN → HARDWARE GPRS COMMANDS → HARDWARE MODEL.

  3. Add a GPRS command for your device model and ensure Show on Asset Info is checked.

  4. Search for the asset, open the Asset Info page and go to the Commands tab.

  5. From the Commands tab you can:

    • Send the Engine Cut / Restore command.

    • View Command History and Statuses.

2. SMS Command Setup

If your device supports SMS commands:

  1. Set up an SMS gateway in the platform first.

  2. Assign an SMS quota to the client. Configure Client SMS Quota

  3. Follow the same process as GPRS: configure the SMS commands under ADMIN → SMS COMMANDS for the hardware model.

  4. Send SMS commands from the Commands tab on the Asset Info page.

Important: The SMS gateway must be active and properly configured for SMS commands to work. Add SMS Gateway

Sending Custom Commands Without Saving

In addition to saved commands, you can also send custom SMS or GPRS command strings directly from the Asset Info → Commands tab without first saving them under the hardware model. This is useful for:

  • One-off commands

  • Testing new command formats

  • Sending device-specific instructions that aren’t part of the saved list

To do this:

  1. Navigate to the Asset Info → Commands tab for the device.

  2. Choose the command type (GPRS or SMS).

  3. Enter your custom command string in the provided field.

  4. Send it directly to the device.

The platform will process and queue the command just like a saved command; you can also view its delivery status and history in the Command History section.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Verify device compatibility: not all hardware supports OTA commands; some only support SMS. In other words Always confirm the exact engine cut-off and restore command format with your hardware provider before using it on the platform.

  • For SMS commands, ensure a working SMS gateway is setup

  • Use custom commands for troubleshooting or temporary actions, but save frequently used commands for easier access.
