Understanding our Terminology



Once you understand our Vocabulary, it will help you get navigate the platform with ease

Reseller.
Your primary account with us as a vendor.
This is the top-level account that manages clients, sub-resellers, users, devices and billing.
Example: London Tracking Ltd

Client.
Your customer who uses the platform to track and manage their assets.
Example: South East Plumbing Services

Sub-Reseller.
A reseller account that operates under your control. Sub-resellers can manage their own clients and may use their own URL and branding, or operate under yours.

Device.
The physical hardware device used for tracking or identification, such as a GPS tracker, Bluetooth Beacon, iButton/RFID tag etc.

Asset.
The asset you are tracking, what the tracking device is installed in or attached to.
Examples: Truck, car, motorcycle, generator, container, person, animal, battery etc.

Events
Information generated by hardware or the platform.

  • Hardware Events: Data sent directly from devices (e.g. ignition on/off, harsh acceleration, impact, low battery).

  • Platform Events: Events generated by the system (e.g. entering or exiting a zone, over the road speed limit, excessive idling).

Alerts
Rules you create to be notified when specific events occur. Alerts can also trigger notifications.
Example: Send an SMS when any vehicle reports an impact event.

Notifications (Push, Email, SMS, On-screen)
Messages sent when alerts are triggered. Notifications can be delivered via mobile app push, email, SMS, or displayed on screen when logged in from a desktop or laptop.

Zones (Geo-Fences / Geo-Zones)
Virtual areas drawn on the map by the user. The platform generates events when an asset enters, exits, or overstays in a zone.

Commands (GPRS & SMS)
Instructions sent to a device to configure or control it. Commands can be sent via SMS or GPRS (data) when the device is connected to the platform.

Quota & Quarantine
If a device is misconfigured or malfunctioning, it may transmit an unusually high amount of data. To prevent excessive network charges, such devices are automatically quarantined when they exceed a data quota, allowing you to investigate and fix the issue.

Data Forwarding
After receiving and processing data from devices, the platform can forward this data to a destination of your choice in a standardized, human-readable format.

API
An interface that allows you to programmatically Create, Read, Update, or Delete data on your account and integrate the platform with external systems.

Users (Client & Reseller)
Accounts created to access the platform.

  • Client users: Your customers

  • Reseller users: Your internal staff

Roles (Client & Reseller)
Permission sets that restrict what users can view or modify. Roles help protect sensitive information and allow you to create service plans based on what clients have paid for.

Audit Trail
A log showing who created, updated, or deleted data in the system. Useful for troubleshooting, accountability, and investigations.

Sharing
Generate a secure link for non-platform users to track one or multiple assets. You can control when the link expires.

Installations
Used to manage and validate device installations. Ensures devices are correctly installed and reports required events.
Example: Ignition on/off confirmation.

Control Room
A dedicated 24/7 monitoring view showing all client assets in real time, with alert dashboards to enable rapid response.

Crashes
When a device reports an impact event, the platform can generate a crash reconstruction view, providing a detailed analysis to support faster investigations and decision-making.

Sensor
A peripheral component connected to a device that measures or detects specific conditions and sends this data through the device to the platform. Sensors extend the capabilities of a device.
Examples: fuel level sensor, temperature sensor, door sensor, weight sensor, etc.
